Cancel a Bulk Action

Stop a running bulk action before it makes more changes.

Written by Claire Calvez

When a bulk action is triggered by mistake — or needs to be stopped partway through — you can cancel it directly from the Progress Notification Panel, without contacting Product Support. The Cancel button is available to all users while a bulk action is In Queue or In Progress.

Canceling a bulk action stops any remaining candidates from being processed. Actions already applied to candidates before cancellation are not reversed automatically.

Note: Canceling a bulk action only stops what hasn't run yet. If candidates have already been moved or updated, those changes remain in place. Review your pipeline after canceling to confirm the current state.

How to Cancel a Bulk Action

You can cancel a bulk action from the Progress Notification Panel while it is still In Queue or In Progress.

  1. Click the Progress Notification icon in the top navigation bar (the clock/progress icon, next to the bell).

  2. Locate the bulk action you want to cancel. It must have a status of In Queue or In Progress.

  3. Click the Cancel button next to that bulk action.

  4. Confirm the cancellation when prompted.

The bulk action status will update to Canceled in the Progress Notification Panel.

Bulk Action Statuses

The Cancel button is only available for bulk actions in one of these two statuses:

Status

What it means

In Queue

The bulk action has been created and is waiting to start. No candidates have been processed yet.

In Progress

The bulk action is currently running. Some candidates may already have been processed.

Once a bulk action reaches any of the following statuses, it can no longer be canceled:

Status

What it means

Completed

All candidates were processed successfully.

Completed with Failures

The action finished, but some candidates were not updated.

Failed

The action did not complete.

Canceled

The action was already stopped.

Halted

The action was stopped due to a messaging limit being reached.

Q: Will canceling a bulk action undo changes already applied to candidates?

A: No. Canceling stops the remaining candidates from being processed, but any changes already applied — such as folder moves or label assignments — are not automatically reversed. Check your pipeline after canceling to identify affected candidates.

Q: Can I cancel a bulk action that has already completed?

A: No. The Cancel button is only available while the bulk action is In Queue or In Progress. Completed, Failed, or Halted actions cannot be canceled.

Q: Who can cancel a bulk action?

A: Any user can cancel a bulk action they can see in the Progress Notification Panel. You do not need Owner or admin access to cancel.

Q: What if I don't see a Cancel button next to my bulk action?

A: The Cancel button only appears for actions in In Queue or In Progress status. If the action has already reached a final status, the button will not appear. If the action is still running but you don't see the button, contact Product Support via Intercom.
