Source Category is a candidate attribute that groups individual Sources into higher-level categories — for example, grouping several sources under Job Boards, Referrals, or Social Media. Once configured, it appears automatically on candidate profiles and can be used to filter leads across the platform, giving you cleaner source reporting and faster candidate searches.
Note: Only users with Owner access can configure Source Category mappings. Recruiters can view the attribute and use it for filtering, but cannot edit category assignments.
Mapping Sources to a Source Category
Source Category can be found inside the Candidate Attributes. It displays a mapping table listing all your existing Sources alongside an editable Category field.
Assign a category name to each source directly in the table — once saved, any candidate whose Source matches a mapped entry will automatically show the corresponding Source Category on their profile.
Go to Settings > Candidate Attributes.
Search for Source Category in the attributes list.
Click Source Category to open its settings.
In the mapping table, locate the source you want to categorize.
Type a category name in the Category field next to that source.
Repeat for each source you want to assign a category to.
Click Save. The category mappings are applied immediately to all matching candidates.
Note: Sources with no category entered will show a blank Source Category field on the candidate profile. To update a mapping, return to this screen, edit the Category field, and save — the change applies retroactively to all candidates with that source, including in exports and filters.
Using Source Category to Filter Leads
Once your mappings are configured, you can filter candidates by Source Category in the Leads Tab. Open the Leads Tab, click Filters, select Source Category from the attribute list, choose one or more category values, and click Search. The list will update to show only candidates whose source falls under the selected category.
Q: Can I create my own category names?
A: Yes. You type category names directly into the mapping table in the Source Category attribute screen — there is no fixed list. Use any naming convention that suits your reporting needs.
Q: What happens if a source is not mapped to a category?
A: The Source Category field on the candidate's profile will appear blank. The candidate will not appear when filtering by any Source Category value.
Q: Can I use Source Category in Autoflow rules?
A: Yes. Source Category is available as a candidate attribute condition in Autoflow, allowing you to trigger automated actions based on a candidate's source grouping.
Q: Can recruiters edit Source Category directly on a candidate profile?
A: No. Source Category is a system-managed attribute set automatically based on the candidate's Source. It cannot be added or edited manually from the candidate profile.
Once your mappings are saved in Candidate Attributes, Source Category is ready to use in filters and Autoflow rules across the platform — no further setup required.
