A source is where a lead came from, for example a job board, a referral or an ad. Reports group sources into categories so the charts stay readable. There are two ways to group them, and the Default | Talkpush switch on a chart or table chooses between them.
Grouping | What it is |
Default | Your company’s own grouping of sources. Use it when you want to see the categories your team has defined. A source your company has not put in a category appears as Uncategorized. |
Talkpush | Talkpush’s standard grouping, the same for every company. Use it to compare like with like across companies or when your company has no grouping of its own. |
How it behaves:
The switch changes every chart and table on the page together, and the column or chip names change with it (“Source Category” or “Talkpush Category”).
Switching does not reload the report. It redraws from the data already on screen, so it is instant.
A company with no grouping of its own starts on Talkpush. Other companies start on Default. Once you pick one, it is remembered for that company for the rest of your browser session, including on the other report tabs.
The Source Category and Talkpush Category filters work the same way: filter on whichever grouping you are reading.
Set up or edit your Default grouping
The Default grouping comes from the source mapping in your Talkpush account. To create it or change it:
Open Candidate Attributes
In Talkpush, go to Leads → Candidate Attributes.
Find Source Category
Type source category in the search box and open Source Category in the list.
Map your sources
Scroll to Map sources. Each source is listed on the left. Type a category for it on the right. Sources mapped to the same category are grouped together in the reports.
A source you leave without a category appears as Uncategorized in the Default grouping.
When do changes show up?
The source mapping is refreshed once a day at 4:00 AM UTC. A change you save in Talkpush appears in the reports after the next refresh, so it will not show up straight away. This daily refresh is separate from the data load shown in Data updated at.
Example
Two sources, “Facebook Ads” and “Instagram Ads”, might be one category called Paid social in your Default grouping, while Talkpush files them under a standard Social category. Same leads, different buckets. The total never changes, only how it is split.
