Talkpush is known for its omnichannel features. Candidates can apply through standard Landing Page links, as well as via Messenger and WhatsApp.
Now you can bring bot configuration into your own hands, right inside Talkpush. The Chatbot Builder lets you customize the Conversational Bot and decide what it does, so it matches your brand instead of relying on a bot Talkpush manages for you.
You set how the bot sounds, which languages it speaks, what details it collects, which jobs it offers, and what it can answer about your company. Candidates get answers and can apply right in the chat, without waiting for a recruiter.
Know Your Bot Options
Talkpush offers three types of bots. Knowing which one your candidates talk to today helps you decide how to start.
Bot type | What it is |
Dialogflow bot | The original Talkpush bot. It follows a scripted, rule-based flow, often built on Dialogflow. |
AI bot | The first-generation Talkpush AI bot. Talkpush sets it up and manages it for you, so you can't change it yourself. |
Conversational Bot | The new AI-powered bot you build and customize yourself in the Chatbot Builder, so it behaves the way your brand wants. |
In the Chatbot Builder, the bot your candidates talk to today is called your Classic bot. It can be a Dialogflow bot or an AI bot. The panel at the top of the Build your bot tab shows which bot your candidates talk to today.
About the Chatbot Builder
The Chatbot Builder is where you create and customize your Conversational Bot. You build in four steps: start from your Classic bot or from scratch, review each setting, test it in a chat, and publish. You can test your bot in a live chat before any candidate sees it.
Your Account Operations Manager must turn on the Conversational Bot for your company before you can publish. You can build and test while you wait. Publish stays greyed out, so candidates can’t be moved to the new bot until the feature is on.
Important: Nothing changes for candidates until you publish. Save keeps a draft, and your candidates keep talking to your Classic bot. |
Open the Chatbot Builder
Go to Company Settings > Conversational Bot.
Open the Build your bot tab.
The panel at the top shows which bot your candidates talk to today: your Classic Bot. Your settings appear in three views on the left, and Try your bot stays open on the right so you can chat with your bot while you work.
Prefill From Your Classic Bot
If your Classic bot is an AI bot, prefilling copies its settings into the builder, so you start from a working setup instead of a blank page.
Important: Prefill works only with AI bots. If your Classic bot is a Dialogflow bot, prefill can't copy its settings. Skip this step and set up each setting in the builder yourself.
In the panel at the top, click Prefill with current settings. This takes a few seconds.
Check the checklist that appears above the three views. Its counter, such as 0 of 9, shows how many settings you have approved.
A checklist lists every setting copied from your Classic bot, such as Bot name, Language, and Tone. Publish stays unavailable until you check every setting. Prefer a blank start? Skip this step. To reverse a prefill, click Undo prefill.
Review Each Setting
Go through the three views. If you started from scratch, fill in each setting yourself. If you prefilled, open each copied setting by clicking Review in the checklist. Then click Looks right to approve it, click Undo to restore it to its previous state, or edit it. Click Save to keep your draft.
Persona: Who the Bot Is
Setting | What it does |
Bot name | The name the bot uses to introduce itself. A first name that candidates will find friendly works well. A preview shows how candidates see the welcome message.
|
Language mode | Locked keeps the bot to the languages you choose. Multilingual answers in whatever language the candidate writes in.
|
Languages | Choose up to five languages from more than 20, including Tagalog, Bahasa Indonesia, and Hindi. |
Tone | Pick a tone: warm and friendly, professional and direct, or branded. Choose Custom to write your own. The tone changes how the bot writes, not what it asks. |
Screening & Campaigns: What the Bot Collects and Offers
Setting | What it does |
Candidate data fields | The bot always asks for name and phone. Click Edit name parts to ask for first and last name separately. Turn off Email, and the bot never asks for it.
|
Campaign scope | Offer every active campaign, or only the ones you choose.
|
How the bot shows campaigns | Show a full list, the jobs nearest the candidate, jobs that match what they want, or jobs in the language they write in.
|
Languages each job needs | For a bilingual job, click Add a job that needs specific languages and choose every language. A job with no languages listed suits any candidate.
|
Advanced: Handover, Limits, and Knowledge
Setting | What it does |
Escalation triggers | Choose when the bot hands the conversation over (e.g., when a candidate asks for a person) and what the candidate receives: a link, an email address, your own message, or a recruiter will follow up.
|
De-escalation fallback | Write one calming sentence for the bot to use in tense moments when an escalation trigger is switched off.
|
Restricted topics | List the topics and words the bot must avoid.
|
Privacy policy and consent | Use your company's privacy policy link or a custom one. The bot always asks for consent before it collects details. Choose Custom to add your own wording to that question.
|
Knowledge | Write the facts the bot can use to answer questions, such as locations, pay, shifts, and your hiring process. The bot answers company questions only from this text and from the documents your account team added. If the answer isn't there, it says it doesn't have that information.
|
Important: A recruiter will follow up only if it sends a note to the candidate. It doesn't alert a recruiter. |
Test Your Bot
Chat with your bot as a candidate would before anyone else meets it.
In Try your bot, select Conversational bot to test your new bot with the on-screen settings, saved or not.
Click a suggestion, such as Hi, are you hiring? or type a message the way a candidate would.
Ask a question about your company to check that the bot finds the answer in your Knowledge text.
Click Why this reply? under any reply to see, in plain words, why the bot answered that way.
Select Classic bot to compare with the bot your candidates talk to today, or click Start over to clear the chat.
Note: Nothing you type in the test chat reaches a candidate or is saved. You can't fully test voice, files, photos, or interview booking here. |
Publish Your Bot
Click Save.
Click Publish. The dialog lists what changes, with your Classic bot's value next to the new one.
Check any translations the dialog shows, such as your consent wording, and edit any word you would say differently.
Confirm the changes in the dialog.
Important: The first time you publish, your candidates move to the Conversational Bot from their next message. |
After You Publish
You can step back at any time.
Option | What it does |
Go back to the Classic bot | Returns candidates to your Classic bot. Your published settings stay in the builder, ready to publish again.
|
Undo last publish | Brings back what you had before your last publish. Go back to the Classic bot first. |
Availability tab | Choose where and when the bot talks. |
If Something Looks Wrong
You see | What to do |
Publish is greyed out | Ask your Account Operations Manager to turn on the Conversational Bot.
|
Publish is waiting | You haven't checked some settings yet. Use the counter above the tabs. |
Your save is refused | A teammate saved a newer draft. Reload the page and redo your changes. |
"Your Classic bot changed after you prefilled from it" | Prefill again, or publish without that change. |
"The bot took too long to answer" | Send your message again. |
Now that your bot is live, open the Availability tab to set where and when candidates can reach it.
