Clara Actions for Candidate Applications

Add, update, move, assign, and message, right from your conversation with Clara.

Written by Crismin Joy Lagamayo

Answers are great. Getting the work done is better.

Clara doesn't just tell you what's going on with a candidate application. She can act on it. Add a candidate, fix a profile, move someone to the next stage, assign an owner, or send a message, all from your conversation, without switching screens or clicking through forms.

Here's what she can do and what she needs from you to do it.

➕ Add a Candidate to a Campaign

Create a new candidate profile and application directly under an active campaign.

Clara needs:

  • The target campaign, by name or ID.

  • The candidate's first name and at least one contact channel: an email address or an international phone number.

  • Optionally: last name, location, education, and sourcing channel. If you skip the source, it defaults to "Manual".

✏️ Update Profile Fields, Attributes & Labels

Keep candidate records accurate without opening the profile.

  • Core profile fields — email, phone number, country code, name, address, state, postal code, education, years of experience, gender, application source, scheduled interview date, or show-up date.

  • Custom attributes — set, update, or remove the custom attributes set up in your workspace.

  • Labels — attach new or existing labels, or remove ones you no longer need.

Clara needs: the application reference or ID (for example, AP123), plus the field names and new values, or the labels to add or remove.

📁 Move an Application to Another Folder or Campaign

Keep candidates moving through your pipeline:

  • Move between stages — for example, New Leads → Screening → Interview → Offered → Hired.

  • Reject with a reason — move a candidate to Rejected and record the rejection reasons.

  • Transfer to another campaign — move a candidate to a different job campaign, with the option to archive the original application.

  • Notify the candidate — optionally send the automated stage-change message configured for the destination folder.

Clara needs:

  • The application reference or ID.

  • The destination folder, and the destination campaign if you're transferring.

  • Rejection reasons, if you're rejecting.

  • Whether to send the stage transition message to the candidate.

👤 Assign an Application to a Manager

Give every application an owner. Clara can assign a hiring manager, recruiter, or coordinator, reassign it to a different team member, or unassign the current owner.

Clara needs: the application reference or ID, and the manager's name, email, or ID (or a request to unassign).

💬 Send a Message or Leave an Internal Comment

Reach a candidate, or leave a note for your team, straight from the conversation:

  • Candidate outreach — send outbound messages by SMS, email, WhatsApp, or Facebook Messenger.

  • Internal notes — post a comment on the application's activity feed. Candidates can't see it.

Clara needs:

  • The application reference or ID.

  • The channel: SMS, email, WhatsApp, Messenger, or comment.

  • A subject line, for email.

  • The message text. You can include personalization tokens like {{candidate_first_name}}.

⚙️ How it works

Every action follows the same simple flow:

  1. Ask in plain language — "Move AP1234 to the Interview folder," or "Send a WhatsApp message to AP5678: Hi {{candidate_first_name}}, your interview is scheduled for Monday."

  2. Review the confirmation card — Clara shows you exactly what she's about to do and who it affects.

  3. Approve or decline — nothing happens until you say yes.

  4. Done — Clara carries out the action and reports back the result.

✅ Note: Write actions, such as moving candidates, are approved one by one. You confirm each action individually before Clara carries it out.
