The world is increasingly mobile-first, and job seekers now use their smartphones for various tasks, including job hunting. Smart companies enhance this experience, recognizing its speed and convenience. Mobile recruitment, particularly through QR codes, presents a significant opportunity for high-volume hiring. Despite active recruitment via mobile messaging apps, many companies overlook the potential of QR codes, easily accessible through built-in phone scanners or free apps. These codes, ubiquitous in daily life, offer a quick path for interested applicants to initiate job applications.

“One scan is worth a thousand words…”

Here are some ways QR Codes can be used to engage with candidates:

1. Simplify Walk-In Applications - Welcome walk-in applicants efficiently by using QR codes. Place a standee with a QR code at your site, directing candidates to open positions. Set up a QR code at the receptionist's desk for a seamless guide, ensuring clear information without repeating details. Save time and effort for both applicants and staff.

2. Retail Recruitment Everywhere - At retail outlets, trade events, or even on buses, engage potential employees effortlessly. Use QR codes on storefront stands, door stickers, sale banners, staff shirts, check-out counters, or coffee cups. Applicants can scan and start their application, showcasing a tech-driven and creative company culture while streamlining the recruitment process without the need for an in-store team.

3. Streamline Career Fairs - Cut down on waiting time at career fairs by using QR codes. Interested students can quickly scan and send their applications, reducing long lines. Create a QR code with answers to frequently asked questions for added convenience.

4. Simplify Referrals - Use QR codes to streamline your referral process. Recruiters track applications with customized QR codes, while employees easily share them on social media or through printed cards and flyers for effortless referrals.

How To Scan QR Codes on iOS, Android, and Facebook

For iOS devices, the camera already has a built-in capability to recognize QR codes. New android devices have QR scanners on the camera (just like in iOS) but they have to enable it in the settings.

Some devices can use Google Lens, while older devices can do it via Facebook.

All strategies have their share of advantages and disadvantages, but so far, QR Codes have proved to be one of the most convenient, cost-effective, and flexible ways to engage with job seekers. And because it is mobile-supported, it’s the quickest way possible to start the interaction—whenever, wherever.

Connecting your Talkpush chatbot or landing pages

For your Talkpush chatbots, we've created standard QR codes that activate the application flow. If you want a custom QR code with your company logo, you can use a QR code generator and request the URL (with the event name) from your Account Manager. Just ask us via intercom, and we'll send you the standard QR codes.

For landing pages, once you have your QR Code, follow these steps;

  1. On the Campaigns tab, select a campaign and then go to Campaign Settings > Sourcing.

  2. On the Landing Page section, copy the default landing page URL. If you need a custom source URL, you can create it in the same section.

  3. Lastly, embed this URL on your QR code.
